NewCode Technologies partners with AIT for Software Research

Irish software company NewCode Technologies Limited has embarked on an exciting partnership with Athlone Institute of Technology’s Software Research Centre to develop a 'software as a service' (SaaS) application delivery model for NewCode's software modernisation products.  This will allow users to initiate, execute and manage their own projects via the Web.  The initiative will have a major impact on the way IT organisations manage and modernise their older, 'legacy' business applications.

Commenting on the partnership, Alex Campbell, CEO and co-founder of NewCode, said that "based on the tremendous feedback we have had from larger enterprises we know that the costs in terms of maintenance, difficulty of retaining skilled resources and lost opportunities because of restrictive older technologies are all compelling drivers for companies to modernise their applications".  NewCode already has patented technologies that allow clients overcome these challenges and quickly move to modern, scalable web-based solutions.

In working with the Software Research Centre (SRC) NewCode is now broadening out the features and capabilities of its approach to allow clients to manage and deploy their own modernisation projects by accessing the NewCode products across the web.  Peter Owens, Chief Technology Officer, and his team at NewCode are working closely with the SRC in building what they believe will be an industry-leading Software as a Service (SaaS) for migrating and converging legacy applications into modern, enterprise architectures.  Peter was complimentary of the SRC team’s capabilities commenting that "the research skills and technologies available to NewCode via this partnership have allowed us to accelerate our development plans and have given significant added value in ensuring the latest technologies and business processes can be included in our modernisation products.  The depth of knowledge and the willingness to assist from the SRC staff has been a significant advantage in building a world class solution”.

Anthony Cunningham, Project Executive at the SRC, commented that "since the SRC’s foundation successful funded partnership schemes have been delivered with a host of Midlands and country-wide Software /ICT-based companies and research units.  Partnership funding is agreed once the proposed research and application projects meet the defined criteria and can be matched with the SRC’s competence and experience in research fields.  It is extremely effective for industry and education institutes to closely work together on research projects with both application and research as central themes of delivery”.

The NewCode-SRC partnership has been partially funded through the Border Midland and Western (BMW) Regional Assembly.
